Chevrolet
One of the largest auto manufacturers in the
world, Chevrolet was founded by William C. Durant
and Louis Chevrolet, a Swiss racecar driver,
in 1911. Known for producing vehicles that are
both extravagant and easily affordable, the
company manufactures everything from large vans
to compact couples and powerful sport utility
vehicles.
The very first luxury car rental produced by
Chevrolet was a five-passenger touring sedan
that featured an engine that allowed the car
to reach speeds of 65mph. At the time, this
was a very high speed for such a large car.
However, as time went by, Chevrolet was forced
to create cars that were much more powerful
and stylish in order to compete with other manufacturers,
like Ford.
The most popular Chevrolet car rental is the
Corvette, which was first produced in 1953 and
is still around today. The first production
car every made with a fiberglass body, the Corvette
appealed to those who valued the power of a
classic Chevrolet as well as the style of a
sports car. In the 1960’s, Chevrolet introduced
the first production car manufactured in the
United States that featured an all-round independent
suspension.
When gas shortages became an issue in the 1970’s,
Chevrolet was forced to create an exotic car
rental that was smaller and sportier. To do
so, the brand looked at their popular large
models, such as the Caprice and Malibu, to gain
inspiration and soon came up with the Vega and
Chevette, both of which competed with both domestic
automakers as well as foreign manufacturers.
And while many may not view Chevrolet as just
a luxury car manufacturer, the brand’s
upgraded technology and ability to change designs
with the styles ensures that Chevrolet will
probably be around for quote some time to come.
